President Museveni Pays Tribute to Gen. Moses Ali, Hails His Legacy of Peace and National Service

KAMPALA: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has paid tribute to the late Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, describing him as a patriotic leader whose contribution to Uganda's history, peace and development will be remembered for generations.

The President made the remarks after joining mourners at Parliament to pay his last respects to the former Second Deputy Prime Minister, where he laid a wreath on Gen. Moses Ali's coffin during a special sitting held in his honour.

In his tribute, President Museveni said Gen. Moses Ali played a significant role in Uganda's political history after rejecting the brutality of Idi Amin's regime and joining the struggle for the country's liberation.
He noted that the late statesman remained committed to promoting peace and spearheading development, particularly in the West Nile sub-region, throughout his years of public service.

President Museveni emphasized that Gen. Moses Ali understood the close relationship between peace and socio-economic transformation, saying sustainable development can only be achieved in a peaceful environment.

The President appealed to leaders in West Nile and across the country to honour Gen. Moses Ali's legacy by working tirelessly to improve household incomes and promote prosperity for all Ugandans.
He thanked the late general for his dedicated service to the nation and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.

Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, a veteran politician, military officer and former Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, is being remembered as one of Uganda's longest-serving public servants, with a career that spanned several decades.
