3 Suspects arrested over Kidnapping a 45 year old man from Mitooma

Police in Mitooma District have rescued a kidnap victim and apprehended three suspects linked to a criminal gang that allegedly impersonated law enforcement officers to carry out the abduction.
The Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Tayebwa Apollo identified the victim, as Israel Twesigye, 45, a resident of Sherere Village, Rwaburunga Sub-county, was abducted on June 5, 2026, by the suspects, who disguised themselves in police-branded T-shirts.
Reports indicate that the suspects used a motor vehicle (UAV 595G) to carry out the kidnapping of Israel before demanding a ransom of UGX 30 million from his terrified relatives.
Tayebwa said that that upon receiving the report, police immediately launched a full-scale investigation. He confirmed that specialized tracking teams were deployed, who followed critical leads to Sembabule District. On June 7, 2026, the operation reached its climax with the arrest of the suspects.
SP Tayebwa identified the suspects as Tumwebaze Onan, Kakunguru Jacob, and Naserenga Haustine.
