35 year old Man Arrested of Assaulting his Wife to Death in Kabale

Police in Kabale District have arrested a man accused of assaulting his wife to death in a suspected case of domestic violence, as investigations into the incident continue.

The suspect, identified as Babikyingira Godfrey, is currently being held at Kabale Central Police Station (CPS) in connection with the death of his wife, Niwamanya Gorrette, also known as Koreti, 35, a housewife and resident of Nyakarindi Village, Kasheregyenyi Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub-county in Kabale District.

According to preliminary police reports, the incident happened yesterday, at around 7:30 p.m., in Nyakarindi Village. It is alleged that the deceased had been drinking waragi at a local bar in Kasheregyenyi when a misunderstanding reportedly arose between the couple.

The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime said that the suspect allegedly accused his wife of stealing his money before reportedly assaulting her using a fencing plant locally known as oruyenge, leading to fatal injuries.
